Appointments Follow Disappointments

Appointments Follow Disappointments
And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath appointed unto me; Luke 22:29 KJV
Disappointed? Look for God’s appointment and you won’t be.
I’m guessing you don’t like disappointment any better than I. I admit that disappointment is my least favorite emotion. You’d think I’d have learned my lesson by now and yet, I still experience disappointment when things don’t work out as I’d imagined. Every single time I’ve been disappointed, I later realized God’s appointment was better.
For example, moving out of a house I loved opened the door to living in a hotel that has a new mission field every day – a virtual playground for an evangelist.
Being stranded in Phoenix on a recent missionary journey meant I didn’t make it to Seattle to evangelize with some of my favorite evangelists. Yet, more people than I could have imagined came to know Jesus as a result. I had the opportunity to spend quality time with people I already loved, trained budding evangelists, and was available to help my nephew when he was ready to find his way home.
No, we don’t like disappointment and are in good company. Look at the poor disciples arguing about who was going to be first in the new Kingdom. They had no idea what they were asking and why God’s plan was better. They had high expectations for how this new Kingdom was going to unfold and suffered disappointment at the foot of the cross. Jesus appointed unto them a Kingdom, just as His Father appointed unto Jesus, but they did not understand the wonder of that appointment until the resurrection.
That same Kingdom appointment is ours if we accept it and it never disappoints.
