Travel Tip: Botanical Gardens - Oregon
If you are ever in Oregon following the coast, let me first say, you are very blessed. That is an incredible trip. The Oregon coast is beautiful. While I was camping, someone gave me the tip to make sure I go to the Botanical Gardens. I am trying to follow the advice of the people I meet. God is speaking to me through people and I don't want to miss anything he is saying to me. Certainly, I test anything I hear against the scripture but visiting the gardens certainly didn't conflict.
Bob and Kelley were with me for this part of the journey. They also were delighted with the gardens. There are pictures of the gardens on the website. The gardens were right on the coast. It was a state park so it was only $3 to get in. They were well kept up and breath taking. I've been to larger gardens that were equally beautiful but I've never been to more beautiful ones. Certainly for the price, this was a delight. In fact, it would have been a delight at almost any price. OK - maybe there are limits but I enjoyed it as much as ones I have paid $35 to get into.
After walking through the garden, you can take a stroll along the cliffs of the ocean. We even saw 2 deer on the trail.
The gardens are off Highway 101, 3/4's of the way down the coast. There is a small scenic road that starts at Northbend and meets 101 a little further south. It doesn't have a highway number but you can't miss it. Look for Coos Bay and you will see the road.
You pass Sunset Bay and Cape Arago which are also beautiful. I don't know why the gardens are not listed on my map but they are wonderful.
