Prayer Request – Richard
Please add Richard to your prayer list.
Richard’s life has been about serving God in his family, church, and Christian seminaries. Both his vocation and avocation are to serve God. He spent his entire career in full time Christian service. He is a father, grandfather, and loving husband. He has a full and happy life. He is a role model for loving God the Father.
Richard had polio as a child. It left him without the ability to use his legs to support him. He has spent his life using his arms and crutches for mobility. This has never slowed him down. I have never heard him complain about it. He is always smiling. He stands in a pulpit with his booming voice and shares his love for Jesus.
Our arms and shoulders were not intended to be used in this way. His shoulders have simply worn out. He has had surgery several times on his shoulders. In recent days, he has had to use a wheel chair for mobility. He just found out that there is nothing else surgically they can do for him. They are going to try more physical therapy.
Pray for Richard.
Pray that he will find and be able to purchase a wheel chair that is easier to maneuver.
Pray for the physical therapists and their wisdom.
Pray that he will continue to maintain the spirit of gratitude and love of God that has been the cornerstone of his life.
Pray for relief from pain. Pray that he will be able to lift his grandchildren.
Thank God for Richard and all of the lives he has touched.
Finally, look at your own life. Have you been feeling sorry for yourself about anything? Is there some limitation that has been keeping you from serving God? Look at Richard’s life and all that he has accomplished. He has never given in to self-pity. As he described his problem with his arms, he was quick to say that those arms have served him well all of these years.
Self-pity is a mighty tool of Satan. If you are suffering from self-pity, confess it immediately. Praise God for your blessings. Stomp your foot at this demon self-pity. Join Jesus in saying "Get thee behind me Satan." Smile and serve God.
Luke 4:8 Get thee behind me, Satan: KJV
