No Place Like Home
No Place Like Home

I spent some time in Kansas and visited the Land of Oz. I was homesick so I could identify. I plan to be home on Tuesday Night on September 10, 2002. I want to be with my family and my church as we remember 9/11.

I will have visited 45 of the 50 states. I am ready to be home and have to make myself stop driving to find a hotel and write.

I wanted to head straight home after Kansas but God told me to do Arkansas and Missouri. Thank God I listened. I met wonderful people and was so blessed.

I probably could drive it in on Monday but my husband is traveling and I do not want to arrive home to an empty house.

I was only able to write 1-2 stories a night and have a few more stories to complete. If you are interested, keep checking the website for those additional stories for a while. I will tell you when I am done.

All of my stories are in a database and are associated with topics. After I complete my stories, I plan to add a section so that people can look up stories on specific topics.

I also will be assimilating this and other material for a book. I will occasionally give updates on the progress in the Daily Journal section of the website. I do not have a publisher yet but God will provide. I would love suggestions for a publisher.

Philipians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
KJV

There are many things about traveling I will not miss.

I will not miss breaking several eggs every week. Up until now, I only broke about one a month. I guess that is still bad.

I will not miss chasing grape tomatoes all over the parking lot or having gas station attendants glare at me as they rolled under my car and got squashed on their cement.

I will not miss working on the car in the hot sun.

My indoor grill has a broken foot and and a broken handle. I have burns from the lid and from grease dripping because of the missing leg. I will not miss being burned.

I will not missing moving in and out of a hotel room every night.

I will not miss being awaked every morning by a hotel cleaning crew. I have had to apologize to several of them for my response. My first response to being awakened is not always kind.

Ephesians 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
KJV

I will not miss pumping my own gas. I have always been tricky enough to trade cars with my husband just in time for my car to be filled. Now that he knows I can fill a tank, he might not be so agreeable.

I will not miss sleeping alone.

I will not miss holding my breath until I know the water pressure of my shower is. I will not miss wondering if I will have a shower.

I will not miss bugs in my food.

I will not miss putting quarters in washing machines. At least I had a “Pocket Full Of Quarters.” I have shared my quarters with people doing laundry.

There are some things that I have grown to love.

I love the level of exercise I have been getting. I pray I can continue.

I love the confidence I have discovered in my faith. I have had to depend on God for everything. He is able.

2 Timothy 1:12
I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.
(from New International Version)

I love talking about God with strangers. They are not strangers for very long.

Galatians 3:28-29
There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
(from New International Version)

I love writing e-mail to my new and old friends. In fact, I love writing. I lose track of time. I would rather write than eat, sleep, or read. God has given me such a gift by allowing me the time to enjoy this.

I love dressing casually.

I love listening to people tell their stories.

I love being able to study the Bible for hours every day. I love driving to Christian music. I love being in a spirit of continual prayer.

I love the freedom of being able to ask God what He wants me to do next and follow His instructions. I love the blessings and affirmations God gives when we follow His instructions. I love watching God keep His promises.

John 14:12-14
I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
(from New International Version)

I love not knowing what day of the week it is.

I love not setting a clock.

There are some things that I cannot wait to return to.

I cannot wait to live with my husband again.

I was used to being hugged several times a day. Almost everyone in my life hugs me at some time or another. I do not get as many hugs when I am with strangers.

I have missed my cat.

I am counting the minutes until I can worship again in my church. God has given me such a gift in my church. My church would be my pick for me out of all of the churches that I have visited.

I look forward to having nights off. I have traveled and visited during the day and wrote every night.

My home is called “Sanctuary.” I cannot wait to return to “Sanctuary.”

I miss my son Christopher and his wife Whitney. I have seen Bob and Kelley several times but have missed Chris and Whitney.

I cannot wait to get to choir. They have already started practicing for the Singing Christmas Tree so I am behind.

I’m looking forward to seeing my nephews, parents, other relatives, and friends.

I cannot wait to return to Jacksonville. There is nowhere I would rather live.

I get to teach my piano students on Thursday night.

I get to use a real stove. Did I just say I was looking forward to cooking???

I can pray, meditate, and read the Bible in “my spot.”

God has given us all so many blessing. Praise God for His blessings. Have you counted your blessings today? It is so much easier to count our difficulties. Make a list of all of the things that you are grateful for. There is truly, no place like home.

Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
(from New International Version)
