Focus on the Positive
Satan tries to use the demon “Self pity” to destroy our relationship with God and the people around us. If we allow it, Satan will use self-pity to ruin the most sacred events in our lives. Every situation we ever face will have both positive and negative aspects to it. For today, chose to focus on the positive.
I have a friend Vivian who loves Christmas day. She wears red throughout December. She sends Christmas cards signed “Love, Love, Love.” She is constantly at church during the holidays, helping everyone else enjoy Christmas. Is this unusual? Plenty of people love Christmas but let me tell you the rest of Vivian’s story.
Vivian’s beloved husband died on Christmas morning. She had to make funeral plans with her husband’s unopened Christmas gifts still under the tree. “How can you love Christmas so much when it reminds you of your husband’s death?” I asked.
“Christmas is about the love of Christ. My husband is with Christ. I celebrate that. I refuse to let my own grief take Christmas from me.” Vivian is the most positive person I know. I watched her lose her son to a long and debilitating illness. “I praise God for a daughter-in-law that was so devoted,” was her response when I tried to offer consolation.
Use her as a model and discipline your thoughts to have an “Attitude of Gratitude” about your life. Give thanks in everything. Find something to thank God for in every relationship in your life.

Dumped Pharaoh and his army in the sea, His love never quits. The God who marched his people through the desert, His love never quits. Smashed huge kingdoms right and left, His love never quits. Struck down the famous kings, His love never quits. Struck Sihon the Amorite king, His love never quits. Struck Og the Bashanite king, His love never quits. Then distributed their land as booty, His love never quits. Handed the land over to Israel. His love never quits.
God remembered us when we were down, His love never quits. Rescued us from the trampling boot, His love never quits. Takes care of everyone in time of need. His love never quits. Thank God, who did it all! His love never quits!
