Did You Know…

That if you fought in World War One, you didn’t call it that while you were fighting in it. You only called it “The World War.” Of course you knew that if you thought about it for a moment. After all, The World War was supposed to be the war that ended all wars.

I was in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and saw a memorial to the veterans who died in The World War. It took me by surprise until I saw that the plaque was put up in 1929, long before World War Two. Sadly, a second plaque was later put up for all soldiers of all wars. You can see pictures of the memorial in the Photo Gallery – Pennsylvania – Lewisburg – Soldiers Memorial Park.
