Sweet Spirit
If you haven’t visited Sweet Spirit Christian Store in Marietta, Georgia, you have missed a treat. The store is aptly named. I had the privilege of doing a book signing there on January 31, 2006. When I arrived at the door, I saw my picture along with a friendly sign inviting people to the book signing. I entered to see my books displayed by the door. On the top of the display (See pictures in Photo Gallery under Georgia – Marietta – Sweet Spirit Store) was a bus, some camping equipment, and many quarters.
When I scheduled the book signing, Harriette asked, “What is your favorite color?”
“Teal,” I told her. When I was younger, I used to call my favorite color “mint green” but teal seems to be the word that describes my color today. When I arrived at the store, Harriette gave me a teal gift bag containing many gifts.
“We read that you worship with music as you travel,” Hariettee said excitedly. “Here is a stack of CD’s for you. When I saw this book, it seemed to have your name on it,” she said handing me a children’s book about traveling in a bus. The bag also contained a roll of quarters. “You are on our prayer list,” Hariette said. “We might not can go but we can become a part of your ministry by praying.”
As I sat in the front of the store, the employees told customers how wonderful my book was. “It’s funny and inspiring,” Hariettee told one customer enthusiastically. “You’ll enjoy reading about her travels,” she told another.
When it was time to leave, we hugged. I had made new friends. “I love the name of your store,” I said. “It really fits.”
Hariette smiled. “Working here really makes your think about your spirit.”
