Biblical Tips On Relationships: Know Your True Worth
The World’s Standards For Worth:
To judge worth by appearance Our appearance is constantly changing (usually for the worse!) Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
To judge worth by achievements Achievements are fleeting! Isaiah 5:24 (Message) Their souls will atrophy, their achievements crumble into dust.
To judge worth by the approval of others The approval of others is fickle! Luke 6:26 (Message) There's trouble ahead when you live only for the approval of others, saying what flatters them, doing what indulges them. Popularity contests are not truth contests — look how many scoundrel preachers were approved by your ancestors! Your task is to be true, not popular.
To judge worth by the level of influence There is always someone more powerful waiting to conquer! Dan 11:2-4 Now then, I tell you the truth: Three more kings will appear in Persia, and then a fourth, who will be far richer than all the others. When he has gained power by his wealth, he will stir up everyone against the kingdom of Greece. Then a mighty king will appear, who will rule with great power and do as he pleases. After he has appeared, his empire will be broken up and parceled out toward the four winds of heaven. It will not go to his descendants, nor will it have the power he exercised, because his empire will be uprooted and given to others.
God’s Words On Worth Matthew 10:30-31 (NIV) And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Acts 20:24 (NIV) However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me-the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.
1 Peter 1:7 (NIV) These have come so that your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
Proverbs 31:10 (NIV) A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.
1 Peter 3:4 (NIV) Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.
