Seeing Clearly

Biblical Tips On Relationships: Seeing Clearly

Before you criticize someone else, make sure you know what you are talking about.

If you really want to help people with your “suggestions, advice, or criticism,” make sure you can “see clearly.” The Bible gives us instructions for how to be helpful to others with our suggestions, advice, or criticism.

Biblical Instructions for Clearly Seeing the Faults of Others:

When you find yourself feeling like giving suggestions, advice, or cricism, first look closely at your self.

If you are perfect, proceed.

You have perfect vision.

If you have any remaining faults, fix them all before you proceed.

Your vision is cloudy. First, fix all of your faults. Then it is safe to proceed with your “help.”

If you do not heed this advice:

Your words will do damage to you and your relationships.
You and the words will be unappreciated.
Your good intentions will be for naught.

Luke 6:41-42
"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. NIV
