Did You Know…Why I Put Pictures Out On the Web?

Eph 6:18
In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. The Message

There are tens of thousands of pictures of America on the Pocket Full of Change website. Taking and posting pictures is a lot of work. I spend 1-2 hours most nights posting pictures. We won’t even discuss what I go through to take some of the pictures. Before God called me to full time ministry, I had no interest in cameras. In fact, I didn’t even know how to use the one we had. My philosophy was that I wanted to live my life and not spend it behind a camera. So why do I take and post so many pictures?

I’ll tell you why – I believe America needs prayer. I prayer walk our country and I want people to join me on my prayer walk. I’m in 30-40 states a year and have a rare opportunity to pray across our nation. I pray when my feet hit pavement – for the place and the people that will visit, live, or worship there. I pray before I open my mouth, before I leave my camper in the morning, while I’m talking with people, and after we part. On my first journey, I bought a camera because my mama was worried about me and I thought seeing the pictures would give comfort. Before the first week of the first journey was completed, it dawned on me that if I posted pictures on the website, people could prayer walk America with me.

As an example, today, I ministered in St. Clare Medical Center in Crawfordsville, Indiana. I chatted with a man who was lonely, slightly confused, and needed to talk. I visited rooms on the long-term care ward, praying with and witnessing to people nearing the end of their life. I thanked Sister Lucile for the spiritual guidance she gives at that hospital. I thanked the volunteers for giving their time. I complimented the staff about how the patients bragged on them. I visited the maternity ward and celebrated new life with families. When I posted the pictures, I hoped that you, the reader, would pull up the photo gallery file marked Indiana – Crawfordsville – St. Clare Medical Center and pray for the workers, the patients, the new life, and the dying. I imagined that you would see Christ in Sister Lucile’s smiling face and thank God for her.

I know that thousands each week look at the photo gallery. Please, when you pull up a file in the photo gallery and look at the pictures, take a second to pray for the people and your country. Thank God for creating the beautiful world you are seeing. Pray for the people and institutions pictured. Ask God to heal and strengthen our country. I read this week that many pray as if they were an atheist – as if they do not believe God answers prayers. Prayer works! The Bible says it and I believe it. I’ve seen it happen in my life. I believe in prayer. Join me on my prayer walk for our country by opening the photo gallery and praying. Pray as if you are a true believer in God and prayer.
